Great friendly, knowledgeable staff, lovely to look around. They have put a lot of effort into this. Car park is very small though be prepared.

Beatrix Potter's home is wonderful to visit, and left about as she would've had it as she intentionally donated it to the National Trust. The 7 rooms can be seen in 20-30 minutes (3 downstairs and 4 upstairs), though one volunteer got talking about her life and history so we stayed for 40. The rooms include her collections and objects, as well as an exhibition on The Tale of Two Bad Mice. Signs and info books/boards available in many rooms.
Note prebooking for the car park is required as it only has around 15 spaces. Once buy tickets and checkin near the car park, it's a 150 metre walk down the road to the house's entrance.
They also have a gift shop with a lovely selection of Peter Rabbit gifts. Clean toilets also near the house, and a small garden. (No cafe, but local pub nearby.)

An over rated national trust. There's not much to see or do and can be complete within a 15 minute visit. If I had paid 17.50 I would be slightly miffed.

We love this quaint national trust property. Make sure you book tickets before your visit, limited parking so if you haven't booked you won't be able to park. Once checked in you need to walk around the outside along the road and then enter into hill top.
Lovely shop at the end of the visit. Amazing sign post if you look carefully as well!

Thoroughly enjoyed the visit, very informative. Pre booking is a must as you can't just turn up and pay.

A lovely way to spend an afternoon.
We knew a bit about Beatrix Potter (BP) before our visit and thought Hill Top was worth a visit, while staying in the area. So glad we did!
We pre-booked our allotted visit time - late afternoon was nice and quiet. Included parking was close by and easy.
We had a nice visit around the house and gardens. It was to see BP's home just as she left it. She definitely was ahead of her time, when it comes to conservation of the Lakes District.
A lovely gift shop and cafe on site.
Even if you don't know heaps about BP, this is worth a visit!
Allow at least one hour.

If you are a Beatrix Potter fan and are in the Lake District, I highly recommend a visit. It’s beautiful and serene. She left all her many farms to the National Trust to preserve this area’s heritage. She was a true renaissance woman: scientist, artist, naturalist, and conservationist.
